We are very glad with the latest development of the school project. We are pleased to tell you that things there are gradually falling into place.
Our first task was to assist the teacher who had been working there voluntarily so that he would not abandon the school, since that would have meant not having any school at all in Djalingo. Thanks to you, our sponsors, we have now been able to send him his salary for the next 6 months which is deposited there so he gets his €25 constantly every month.
Getting to the school has also been a major problem for the teacher since he resides in a neighbouring village about an hour walk from Djalingo. For this reason, we provided him with a bike to facilitate his way to school. It will also be presented to him at the ceremony being organised by the inhabitants of Djalingo. All this is, of course, a big motivation for the teacher and, better put, a breath of fresh air for the old primary school in Djalingo.
Our goal still remains to get the school back to its feet again, so as to ensure that the children of Djalingo get an education which is essential for their being able to cope in the world of today.
All these things are small steps towards the vision of Mount Carmel - to be a source of hope. We want again to say a big “thank you” to all of you who have been our support. Without you we certainly would not have been able to get anything done.
